Major vs. Minor Service

Not all generator services are the same. Here's exactly what's included in each type of service visit — so you know what your maintenance plan covers.

Major Service

Comprehensive top-to-bottom inspection & service

Full oil and filter change
Check for leaks
Check battery charger
Coolant level check and top-off
Battery load test and terminal cleaning
Belts and hoses inspection
Transfer switch inspection and testing
Control panel diagnostics
Voltage and frequency checks and adjusted as necessary
Full load test run
Check voltage and frequency, adjust if necessary
Detailed service report provided
All service agreement clients get 24-hour emergency service and discounts on parts and labor

A Major Service is recommended once per year at minimum, or every 200 hours of operation — whichever comes first.

Minor Service

Interim check-up to keep your generator ready

Visual inspection of all components
Oil level check and top-off
Check for leaks
Check battery charger
Belts and hoses inspection
Battery terminal cleaning and voltage check
Coolant level check
Transfer switch visual inspection and testing
Short test run and performance check
Service notes recorded
Check voltage and frequency, adjust if necessary
All service agreement clients get 24-hour emergency service and discounts on parts and labor

A Minor Service is performed between Major Services to catch developing issues early and keep your generator running reliably.
